2017 was…

an interesting year full of up’s and down’s, but also a year of opportunity.

Here are some of the things I am most proud of that I was blessed with this year. (These are all positive things, however, I did have bad days in 2017. But I know a bad day or week or month does not equal a bad life. Be positive and look back at what made you most happy and proud this year!)

For starters, in 2017 I know I bring this up all the time, but I started my blog! This was a huge accomplishment for me and I only want it to grow more each year. Even when I’m not posting weekly as I would like to, I’m always thinking of what I could write next (ask my friends.)

After so much unnecessary stress and final papers, I finished my freshmen year of college. This was a big deal for me because college is hard and there were many days I wanted to give up. Ending my freshmen year made me reflect on what I really want to do when I graduate in 2020, which brings me to more things I completed this year.

Immediately after Christmas break last year I started my FIRST JOB in one of my campus dining halls. What a joy it was to make my own money! I also quit my first job this year (so liberating!) And I had two jobs at one point! I started a new job as a student intern at a high school. $$$.

I stopped holding myself back and auditioned for two fashion shows and made both! The first one was last semester and the second is coming soon. I’m proud of this because I’m shy and always second guessing about trying something, but doing these made me think “why would you not try out!?” Participating in these shows are extremely fun and rewarding. Most importantly I get to learn how to walk in heels.

I WENT TO MEXICO. If you keep up with my blog you already know this, but this is one of the most exciting things I did this year. I went here with an amazing group of people and met amazing people along the way. This not only was exciting but rewarding because I was able to learn new things throughout my month there.

This might not be super exciting for others, but I got on my first plane this year! I’ve never had the chance to travel outside of my home state and need to catch a flight. I was nervous at first but now I want to fly more. More traveling in the future.

Thanks to a wonderful program I’m a part of at my University, I was able to get a free passport this year. With this passport, I was able to complete my trip mentioned above. I’m hoping that in the next few years I run out of pages in my passport!

I’m an official model… Okay, not really but I feel like it. This year I started taking pictures with my helpful personal photographer. I’ve been comfortable in front of the camera just like I’ve always wanted to be! I actually modeled for a magazine on campus which was too much fun. My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years. I have been told it is due to our compatible zodiac signs. I’m a Virgo and he’s a Taurus. Whatever or whoever we owe it to, I am happy and grateful.

I tried out for a dance team on campus and made it. I’ve been able to learn majorette style dance and meet new girls on campus.

The first semester of Sophomore year is down in the books. This semester was weird and crazy and fun and difficult and a number of other adjectives. Overall, I’m glad it’s over and ready to finish the rest of my second year of college.

I know a good chunk of Spanish! I passed my Spanish exam and finished my language requirement. (Estoy emocionada!)

My mentor and I traveled to Cobo hall and went to an event called Influence 2018. I was able to listen to women who are doing what I want to do in the future. This event helped me gather my thoughts and realize I cannot stop now, I’m just getting started!

CURLS ARE POPPING. I’m too proud it seems like just yesterday I was waking up to straighten my hair every day to fit in. I’m glad to be out of that stage of my life and to be confident with the hair that grows out of my scalp.

I posted a long vlog type video on my YouTube channel and this was my first video ever! I’ve always wanted to have a channel and even though I’m more focused on blogging; I definitely want to create more videos in the future. Check my video out here and subscribe to see more: Mexico Travel Blog

2017 was exciting and I honestly did so much! I’m excited to share next years journey with you and continue to push myself throughout the years. Thank you for keeping up with me! Happy New Year!
