The New Year is finally here! This year I’m looking forward to new opportunities and challenges. The things I want for this year are exactly the same as last year. The only difference is I’m working harder to perfect and solidify those goals. Check out my first post “What I want from 2017.”
In 2018, I want to be a better Paris. By this I mean continue setting goals for myself and reaching for them, but not putting myself down when certain things do not work out. The biggest lesson I learned last year is that it definitely is okay to fail, as long as you are willing to pick yourself up and keep pushing. At times I struggle with realizing that I am only human and I cannot be perfect no matter how much I try.
With that being said, my goal for 2018 is self-love and self-care. To me, self-love and self-care are not just about what people show on social media, like taking bubble baths and doing a face mask. Although those things are relaxing and make me feel good, they cannot help solve actual issues. Self-care/love is checking in with yourself to know if you’re actually okay and if you are not then figuring out the next steps to becoming okay. I honestly do not think this is a simple goal, but I feel like in combination with other plans I have for myself, it is important to keep this goal in mind each day.
To practice self-care and self-love in 2018 I will:
- Not look at other peoples journey as a guide for where I should be – I have my own journey to complete just because someone is succeeding faster does not mean I will not succeed at all.
- Take breaks from social media for a number of reasons.
- Reach out when I need help, stop leaving everything bottled up.
- Fall in love with me. I can not change who I am so I might as well love me.
- Follow the words “TREAT YO’SELF” when I can, just because I can.
- Keep track of my emotions and work on being positive.
- Take bubble baths, do face and hair mask – because it is important to feel good on the outside and within.
What are some ways you plan to practice self-care and self-love this year? Let me know in the comments! Make sure you share this post and subscribe to my blog. (Sharing is the best support and its FREE.)

We smiling all 2018 through the good and bad.
Let’s catch up:
