Allow me to reintroduce myself, you can now call me Phasionista.
Recently, I’ve embarked on the amazing journey to AKAland and gained twenty-nine beautiful sisters along the way. I am beyond proud of myself for continuing to work and strive for something I have been wanting for so long. And I’m most proud for joining the first and finest Greek letter organization.
People join Black Greek letter organizations for many different reasons. I joined my illustrious sorority because of the hard work I saw women in my home community do. These women would serve my siblings, and I knew right away, I wanted to be able to serve my community in similar ways. I did not grow up around Greek life, so most of my perceptions of Greek women were seeing them throughout my neighborhood. Also, having a few family members in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. allowed me to see how global the sorority was. I fell in love with all my family did on campus and around the country. Ultimately, I chose AKA because it’s the only way!
Being a new Fall 2018 member, I have yet to participate in everything, but I am most excited for:
- My 29 new sisters: You all know I come from a big family already, so adding these 29 ladies is a lot! But, I am so excited to add these women into my life.
- Upcoming service projects: My chapter is already working hard, and I cannot wait to show everything we have planned on our campus.
- More confidence: I’ve been working on this one myself, but now I have 29 other people hyping me up!
- New experiences: I’m going to encounter so many new things, and I’m more than ready.
- Legacy: Now as a member, hopefully, I can pass my legacy on to my future children or even just my siblings.
I’m so happy to be back on Paris Atavia and be able to share this experience. I have so much in store so stay tuned cuties!
