Let’s go to Chicago, Illinois

Here I go with another series of post (YAY). If you are not already aware of my first series RETURN TO NATURAL, stop what you are doing and go check that out now!

Okay now that, that’s taken care of let me explain. I decided to get more into my travel side since I have not done much traveling since my Mexico trip (check out this post or this one). Basically, this series is called “Let’s go to _____” and will be me dishing out what I saw or did and everything in between. I’m thinking about breaking it down by the city, instead of an entire state. Just because I feel like that would give an in-depth view of a particular place and not the state/country as a whole.

Now let us get on my trip! On July 17th, I took a day trip to visit downtown Chicago. I was amazed by the city as soon as I got there. I’m from Michigan and there is not much to see here, so I get easily excited by other states… don’t mind me. I could tell right away that I was going to have a great day just because of the beauty of the city. From Michigan to Illinois is about a 4-5 hour drive. I woke up at 4am to prepare for the day and the key to being straight for the day is fixing everything at night! I had my outfit ready, phone charged, and plans to fall asleep in the car.🤪

Our first stop was at the Navy Pier, which was nice to see early in the day before too many people occupied the area. We had the perfect morning view of the water and the city behind us.

We walked around for quite some time, enjoying the views and everyone’s company. But finally, we had to eat! I have some friends from Chicago at school, and they have always told me how amazing the food is. I was ready to be blown away. I was able to try an Italian beef sandwich, however, my boyfriend tells me that the best ones are not made downtown. I guess I did not get the full effect of the sandwich but the one I had was delicious. Despite the messy look of the sandwich, it was tasty!

Much of our day consisted of walking around, taking pictures, and enjoying the sights as any typical tourist would. It was great to see so much in one day and be absorbed by the beauty of the city. I definitely will be back to actually go more into the city and of course, really try the food. Keep scrolling to see more photos taken by me.
