London EATS | week one

If you keep up with me on Instagram, you know that I have crossed the Atlantic and have made my way to London. London is a beautiful, diverse, and fast-paced area to visit in the UK.

When I thought about sharing my journey through London on Paris Atavia, I immediately knew the first thing I had to share was food. Food is an important aspect when traveling anywhere. My first week in London, finding good and affordable food has not been the easiest. Also, with the countries different (and better) regulations on food, my body has not yet adjusted to the typical diet here. Hence, why I always feel hungry even if I eat a large meal.

Despite the difficulties, I have had a few delicious dishes and treats that I want to share now!

Nando’s– It was not just any ordinary chicken. Nando’s is known for its grilled like chicken and spicy peri-peri sauce. After learning that you get a table but still have to get up to order, I ordered medium chicken wings, spicy rice, and chips. The meal was not only delicious but affordable. I plan on visiting here a few more times before I go.

Busaba Thai– On my ride from the airport to my housing, my driver explained to me how London is known for its diverse cuisine. He explained how English food is not normally sought after. This Thai restaurant was a feast with a number of different dishes. The meal was started with a prawn chip and sweet chili sauce appetizer. The plates never stopped coming, next I was served spring rolls, chicken kabobs, and calamari (with a vegan option). Three main courses of pad thai, creeping tiger (a vegan dish), and chicken curry with rice was served. I personally enjoyed the pad thai and curry the most. For dessert, vanilla ice cream was bought out, it did taste different than the traditional vanilla I’m used to. Everything had a different taste than what I would typically be served in the states, but it was interesting and delicious, to say the least.

EL&N Cafe– Social media plays a big role in traveling, especially when looking to share many photos. EL&N has about 6 cafes in the London area, all featuring a variety of pink and white decor. When my friends and I entered one of their smaller cafes, we were asked do we want a nice table, meaning a good table for pictures. I ordered a small carrot cake, which had great frosting, but overall was just okay. This cafe is mostly for the cute Instagram photos, but it was worth a visit.

Honest– With its dark lighting and friendly chatter, Honest served up juicy burgers and seasoned chips. I ordered the burger named after their restaurant which was a fancy bacon cheeseburger. SO tasty! My burger was served with a FRESH sparkling lemonade and a paper straw.

Fish & Chips– I do not remember the name of the place where I ate fish and chips, but that’s because I do not want to remember. I made a stop at a place near the London eye (bad decision, but everything was closing at 8pm) and they claimed to serve good fish and chips. However, I was served a mediocre meal that cost 12 pounds or 15 dollars. I will be trying more fish and chips, with hopefully a better review where I can share the name!
