September 2019 I was invited to volunteer with my internship team and assist during a fashion show. NYFW is one of the craziest weeks during Fashion month, it is a time for designers to showcase what they will be releasing the following season.
I volunteered at the No Sesso SS20 “I’d rather rescue myself” show and was absolutely amazed by the talent, execution, and dedication put into the show. Since I had interned during the summer, I knew a bit about the behind the scenes work to put the show together. But nothing is like seeing things go from vision to reality.
To bring you all along with me, through my fashion journey, here is my NYFW SS20 photo diary. All of these pictures are moments that were gratefully experienced during my fashion weekend.

Day One:
My friend Delorean and I arrived in New York extremely early, even though our show was not until 9pm. I was able to show him around some areas that I had become familiar with during the summer. After some much needed downtime and exploring, we went to the office and helped with some behind the scenes work for the show. To prepare for the show, we all had to wear Adidas superstars with a fashionable all black outfit. I was given an All Access pass and assigned to be the VIP escort, which was exciting because I was able to meet the VIP’s. Even though I may have wanted to go crazy and take pictures, I remained professional for the job (EVEN WHEN I SAW JEREMY SCOTT).

Day Two:
There was no more work for me but we stayed for the weekend because it’s New York Fashion Week! During the day we did a lot of walking, trying things, and planning what to do. Which led us to an invitation to the Target 20 event, which featured all their big name collaborations from past to present. Later that night I found out one of my favorite designers Adriana Sahar was having a show, so I made it a mission to go.

Day Three:
With this being the last day, it was pretty laidback with more walking around and taking New York in. We ended up going to another show for a designer we both like, TLZ Le’ Femme, and with our celebrity status were able to snag second row seats.

My first NYFW was honestly one of the most eye-opening experiences because it showed me how I could really do what I want. At each runway show I attended, I saw every type of person I could imagine on the stages. I’m hoping that I’m able to attend every year now!
