10+ Tips For Growing Your Hair| return to natural

We all have some hair goal we set for ourselves, and usually have no idea how we’re going to reach it. If your hair goal is to have a healthy scalp or grow and maintain healthy hair, I have exactly what you’re looking for. I have been growing my hair for as long as I can remember. I’ve had a few bumps in the road, but that only makes what I’m about to tell you more worthwhile.

Here are 10+ tips to grow your healthy strands:

  1. Wash your hair according to your needs

I personally wash my hair about every two weeks. This is what works for me because it helps me regulate my scalp and keep my hair moisturized. I advise everyone to wash according to their needs because washing can be needed every week if your hair is oily or less frequently if your hair gets dry. When it comes to curly hair, the amount of washes can differ based on the texture of your curls. But keep in mind even if you don’t want to wash your hair, co-washing is a great alternative.

Washing your hair is important to hair growth as it removes build up, oils, and pollution. The more moisture and water your hair gets the more it will grow!

2. Oil your scalp

Applying oil to your scalp has a number of benefits and you should be enjoying them! Oils can help strengthen your hair, condition your hair shaft while locking in moisture, promote a healthy scalp, and number one promotes growth.

3. Massage your scalp

In addition to oiling the scalp, massaging it works hand in hand. However, you can massage the scalp with or without oil, it’s up to you!

Massaging helps improve blood circulation, increase hair thickness, and overall it feels good!

4. Reduce heat use!but don’t think you can never use heat

Reducing the amount of heat your hair endures will do wonders! Heat damage plays a huge role in stunting the growth of hair. When you have less heat damage, your hair has the ability to become stronger! Reducing heat does not mean you can never do heat styling, you just have to protect your hair when you do.

5. Be patient and kind to your hair

Patience is key! Following a million tutorials on how to grow your hair and using a ton of “magic” hair growth products is not the way to go. Growing your hair is a journey, that will take time, which is obviously why you need patience.

My hair fell out twice in my life and even though I wish I could say it grew back in a week, that was not the case. It took a while for my hair to grow back, and even today that section of my head is still a little shorter than the rest. At the end of the day, I just continue to be patient with it and always kind!

6. Choose products that work for you

Going right along with patience, you have to use things that work for your hair. I will always share what I’m using and how I feel it works for me. However, everyone is different, you should not rely on what others use to make up 100% of your haircare routine.

When your hair likes a certain product it will thank you!

7. Try Hair vitamins/gummies

I have no proof that hair vitamins/gummies work, but I do believe that taking a supplement can improve hair growth over time. I take hair, skin, and nail gummies, not to sure on the hair improvement but they have made my nails grow stronger.

Tips from my momma

When my hair fell out the first time she was the one to nurse it back to health. It was only right to ask her to share a few tips, mother knows best!

8. Wash once a week

Washing again removes dirt and pollution which can allow your hair to grow. As mentioned earlier, create a wash routine that works for you!

9. Use Olive oil

If you were wondering “what should I oil my scalp with?” Olive oil is our favorite! If you want to know more about oils click here.

10. Use Shea butter

Shea butter was our bff the first time my hair fell out! It’s super moisturizing and is amazing for the scalp.

11. Keep ends trimmed

Scalp care is important, but so is taking care of your ends. I know sometimes seeing your length makes you want to keep those dead ends. This is your sign to let them go! Letting go of dead/split ends does not make the hair grow, but it does improve the strength of your hair. In the end your hair will be long and healthy!
