Let’s go to Manhattan, New York

I made it to the Big Apple and I made money moves in…. MANHATTAN! I initially made a trip to New York because I am apart of a program focused on enhancing students ability to obtain internships and in the end, full-time jobs. I was able to network with companies like Johnson & Johnson, American Express, Northwestern Financial, and many more. The networking event took place in the City Of New York University graduate center. If you have never been to New York this is the perfect location! It puts you right on 5th ave which is known for all its shops, huge stores including the largest Macy’s in the world, and Madison Square Garden.

I spent a lot of my trip to Manhattan, figuring out subways, walking forever, and taking in the scenery of the beautiful city; while also trying to get used to the fast-paced hustle of the city. My first subway ride actually started in Manhattan, when I first made it to New York I used Uber (SO EXPENSIVE) to avoid getting lost and missing my networking event. I had fears of using the subway system at first, but after using it, there wasn’t much to it. The main thing I had to learn was if I was going uptown or downtown, I did get on the wrong train once. I was not able to see anything exciting in the subway, but I did see a few rats. Still not too exciting but it was a sight to see, they were huge!

Most of my trip was spent in Manhattan, so obviously I had to get something to eat while here. The first place I ate was Los Mariscos, a fish taco restaurant. I was able to enjoy some fish tacos with fresh pico de gallo and pineapple pop. 10/10 would recommend eating here. I had never eaten fish tacos until then, I was worried I would not like them since I’ve only ever eaten chicken or beef tacos. But they were great and extremely authentic. The entire vibe of the restaurant made me feel like I was back in Mexico, no exaggeration.

The second place I enjoyed a nice meal at was called Sandwhicherie, obviously, from the name, it’s clear they serve sandwiches. However, I ordered a bowl of shrimp alfredo, that was delicious and filling especially for the price. My wonderful date ordered a tomato chicken spaghetti dish, not sure how to describe it. But to say the least, both dishes were excellent. The staff here were beyond friendly and patient because I’m so indecisive when it comes to ordering. This restaurant was near the Union square park area, if you ever decide to take a trip this way, you should one-hundred percent give them your business.

Obviously, I had to do basic tourists things because why not? Also because it was my first time visiting, therefore I made it a priority to see certain things. The first being Times Square, I actually visited Times Square twice during my trip, once to walk around and take it all in, then again to get some bomb pictures! A lot of people say to avoid the Times Square area because it’s a huge tourist trap, but it is a must if you have never been or want to get some amazing well lit photos. There was so much to see in this area, of course, the main attraction is lit up buildings showing different advertisement. But there was also street attractions from art, to naked women, to dancers, and so much more. It was clear to note there is no dull day in Times Square.

The most almost relaxing (but not too relaxing because it was busy,) area of Manhattan was my walk down 5th Ave, one of the most expensive streets in the world. I was able to see many different stores, restaurants, and beautiful sights. I was also able to get many photos here because there was so much to look at! As I made my long walk on 5th Ave, I stopped to see the famous Central Park, I was so excited to make a stop there because of the many shows and movies that feature that very park.

I did stop in a few thrift stores in Manhattan but I did not make a purchase which makes me so sad, because I just had this idea that I would find the perfect clothing item in New York. However, I’m not too upset because I for sure will be making another trip to the wonderful state and I cannot wait!
