Thrift with me

I officially started thrifting last summer but I struggled! I dragged my boyfriend as I complained about not finding anything. I went into each store frustrated at the fact that I was not used to thrift shopping. The stores are all different big and small, messy and neat, options or absolutely nothing at all! To figure out thrift stores this might sound crazy, but it takes time and effort. I had to try thrifting multiple times before I was actually excited about it. But, I will say the experience is worth it because now I love thrifting, finding new stores, and looking through the ENTIRE store.

My favorite thing to do is scan the entire store when I first walk in for information about where certain items might be. If I know I want jeans I’ll start there first and make my way around. My biggest tip is to go in with an open mind!!! It’s not a normal store, you will not find exactly what you’re looking for 9/10… and that’s definitely okay. When I go thrifting my goal is to find new pieces that I love or could tweak a little to my liking.

In my last trip, I went to two stores and each one had completely different items to add to my closet!

At the first store, I found a nice pair of Levi jeans. This is the first time I’ve bought jeans from a thrift trip because of my size it’s always been difficult to find the right pair. This pair is not perfectly my size but they are not too far off. A belt or a little sewing will make them perfect. Always remember if something doesn’t fit perfectly, you can get alterations done.

The next thing I found was track pants, these were picked up in the men’s section. I’m never afraid to wander into the men’s area because they usually carry many items that are my style. I also like the men’s section because they typically carry more track pants, tees, and jackets.

The next store I went to was amazing! I immediately walked in and found a vintage Gucci bag (that I walked around the whole store with but didn’t purchase because I’m crazy!!!!)

The first item I got here was a purse, I thought it was super cute to add to my small but growing purse collection.

I found this chain belt, which I think is too cool. Usually, I see a belt and look the other way. But I have been trying to add them to my wardrobe and this belt was the perfect piece for me to come across.

Lastly, I found myself in the little boy’s section (yes look in this area too!) and picked up these neon green Adidas track pants.

I had so much more in my cart, but I did have to give myself a budget so I only picked the top items that fit nicely and were extremely comfortable & cute! If you’re low on funds and really want to expand your wardrobe go check out some of your local thrift stores. Thrifting is the perfect way to revamp your closet for any season.
