London EATS | week three

I’m already almost halfway done with my study abroad program in London. The weeks have been speeding pass, as I take classes and explore the beautiful city.

Week three was relaxing for me, I didn’t spend a lot of time eating out. This was great for my wallet but not so great for this blog post.

Never the less, the blogger in me will always cook something up. Let’s get into what I ate this week!

Pizza Union– This was my first time trying pizza in London, and I was not disappointed. As I mentioned many times in my previous London EATS post, everything is and taste fresh! I ordered a 12-inch pizza named “Vesuvio”  which had various vegetables and spicy pepperoni. I expected a long wait because the restaurant happened to be busy since I went around lunchtime. However, to my surprise, my pizza was done in no more than ten minutes. The pizza had amazing flavor, was filling, and provided me with enough to have leftovers.

Sea Wise Camden (The Underbelly festival)- This was my third time trying fish here, and third times are most definitely the charm. Imagine an 80-degree day, walking across the pier, seeing the London Eye, then feeling a hunger pang. With the underbelly festival taking place there has to be food somewhere. You stumble upon a fish and chip place, and wonder “will this taste better than the first time?” This was my thoughts exactly when stopping here, I had heard that it was a good place to try, but I had to see for myself. I was going to order the traditional fish and chip meal; until I saw a woman in front of me order the fish burger. The burger included a soft bun, a hearty piece of cod, lettuce, gherkin, red onions, cheese, and a special tartar sauce. This has to be one of the best spots in London to grab fish! The burger, though difficult to bite into because of its size, was tasty and kept me wanting more. I also ordered a fresh lemonade and had doubts because sometimes sugar is not a must here. Yet, another worry brushed away, as I sipped extra sweet and tart lemonade. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get a truly delicious taste of fish and chips in London.

Hot Cheeto Twisted Puffs- Now look, I said I did not eat out that much this week. But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t going to try more snacks. I already tried a number of snacks here (Paris Atavia tries UK Snacks) but I have been craving flamin’ hot snacks which are not popular here. When walking home from the theater after seeing the movie “MA”, I stumbled upon a small snack store. They happened to carry a bag of chips stating “NEW” Flamin’ hot Cheeto twists. I knew they wouldn’t taste like back at home, but it was worth a try. The flavor is mild heat and then an after taste of bbq. Though it sounds weird, it was not that bad, but I’ll for sure be more excited when I can get the real thing back home.
